“Several years ago our family was in total chaos. Our two older children were involved in drugs and alcohol, and before long our younger daughter joined them. I was a shopping addict and worry-aholic who drove her kids crazy by calling them all the time. Their father was a workaholic who was physically as well as emotionally absent. We were all codependents and enmeshed with each other. There was much arguing, yelling and crying and not much happiness.
