Carol Cannon, M.A., C.A.D.C.

Co-founder and program director at The Bridge, she earned her master's degree in education and counseling from Andrews University, where she was honored for her work in designing a therapeutic model for breaking the transgenerational cycle of addiction and family dysfunction. Her continuing education includes training at Rutger's Summer School of Alcoholism Studies. Carol is the author of Never Good Enough: Growing Up Imperfectly in a "Perfect" Family and two drug-prevention programs for parochial schools, Caring for Yourself & Others and Drug & Alcohol Resistance Training. She is currently writing Hooked on Unhappiness: How to Break the Chronic Misery Habit. She has been published in numerous periodicals in the U.S. and other countries. Carol brings profound but practical insight to her teaching that is the by-product of her personal healing journey. She and her husband Paul are the proud parents of two sons, one of whom is a Ph.D. in cell biology and the other a C.P.A. Carol enjoys jogging, decorating, landscaping, and grandmothering.
Paul Cannon, M.A., M.Div.

Co-founder, executive director and chaplain of The Bridge to Recovery, Paul has pastored in the SDA Kentucky/Tennessee Conferences and has served as an assistant conference youth director in the Washington, D.C. area. He also taught in the undergraduate religion department at Andrews University for eight years. He has been involved in adolescent, family, and substance abuse counseling for twenty-five years, conducting programs on family issues including Parenting for Problem Prevention and Capable of Caring: Ministering to Families in Pain. He enjoys hiking, bird watching, photography and playing with his four grandchildren.

Judy Harroff, B.A.

Judy is a life skills trainer at The Bridge. She earned her undergraduate degree in education from Ball State University and is currently pursuing graduate studies. Judy says that she has used every medicator known to man, from drugs in her hippie days to perfectionism and workaholism in adulthood. After years of teaching, counseling and overworking, she hit bottom and found herself drinking again because her more socially-approved addictions weren't working anymore. She came to The Bridge as a client in 1994 to "address her issues" but admits that her hidden agenda was to fix her spouse. When she left 99 days later, she had a sense of self for the first time in her life. She has worked a rigorous program of recovery from then until now. Like an ideal big sister, Judy freely shares her experience from the standpoint of a recovering "relationship junkie" who tried to fill the hole in her soul with people, places and things. Her specialty is what she calls "rebirthing midwifery" and "inner parent life skills coaching." She has recently semi-retired but still serves Bridge clients whenever possible.
Tina Craft

Tina has been a friend of The Bridge for many years before joining the staff. For 15 years, she volunteered to give periodic 4th Step (personal inventory) programs for Bridge clients and became a mentor to many. Her journey of recovery began 19 years ago when she found that she had lost herself and her enthusiasm for life. The ways she'd been taught to manage her life no longer worked. With the help of loving mentors, she began a lifelong journey of recovery using the twelve steps of A.A. Her attendance as a client at our codependency program helped her understand and deal with some of the roadblocks she was experiencing in her recovery. Because she is so grateful for the joy her Twelve-Step journey has given her, she has a passion for sharing what she has learned.

Susan Tutino MA, DTR

Susan is a counselor at the Bridge. She earned her Bachelors’ degree from Western Kentucky University and her Masters’ degree from Antioch New England Graduate School in Keene, New Hampshire. Susan has been working in the substance abuse field for several years. Prior to that she completed an internship at River Oaks Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana working in the sexual trauma unit and the eating disorders unit focusing on expressive art therapies. Susan is a grateful recovering addict who began her journey in 1998. She and her husband Tom are blessed with two fantastic children, Jessica and Anthony.
Kimberly C. Whittle, B.A.

Kimberly began her personal recovery journey at The Bridge in 1990. Her past self-destructive lifestyle included addictions to alcohol, drugs and relationships. She is also survivor of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse. Kim's journey of recovery has given her the experience, strength and hope that have transformed her into a serene, joyful and committed wife and mother of two. Kim holds a BA in Psychology and has accumulated over 20 years experience in the field of counseling and human services. She has focused her efforts on work with domestic violence survivors as well as facilitating Christian Twelve-Step groups and sexual survivor groups.

Gerald Wood, M.A.

Gerald has returned to work part-time at The Bridge, which he considers his second home, following his retirement from a lengthy career in business and industry. He received his M.A. from the University of Alabama and is currently re-activating his certification as a chemical counselor. He has been actively involved in twelve-step groups for several years and has facilitated group counseling sessions and family week programs in various churches and treatment centers. His avocations include running, golf, weight-lifting, and being the best dad and granddad he can be to his daughters and their children.
Doc Garvin MA, LPCA, CAC

Doc is a counselor at the Bridge. He graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1996 with a BA in psychology and from Naropa University in 2008 with a Master’s in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology. Doc is licensed as a professional counselor associate and is certified as an Addictions Counselor. He is trained in gestalt therapy and is a certified mindfulness / awareness instructor. Doc brings with him several years of NA, AA, GA and Al Anon experience and has worked extensively with human beings and their addiction / mental health issues for ten + years. He believes that healthy recovery and development (to include healing of early childhood traumas), can be facilitated under the guidance of a professional counselor in a safe setting through cathartic expression of anger and grief followed by an exploration and re-establishment of contact boundaries. Doc resides in Kentucky with his wife and two sons.
