About Kaymen Herrera

Before being on staff with The Bridge to Recovery I had many jobs. Mostly in sales and then began working for our church in ministry for 4 years doing creative, events and volunteer coordinating. I came to The Bridge to Recovery as a client in late 2021 defeated and sick and tired of being sick and tired. I continued to recreate the trauma in my life from childhood in my adult life: relationships and work. Denial, along with my unhealthy coping mechanisms and addictions, were slowly killing me. I had come to a bottom where I had to make a decision, was I going to continue to let my childhood trauma rule my life, or finally deal with it and be free to live my life to the fullest. I made the hard decision of leaving my job, husband, and friends to be at The Bridge to Recovery for 6 weeks. I left a new person. I was reminded of who I was, what I wanted, how to use my voice, how to put boundaries in place, how to love myself, and most importantly, an understanding of how trauma shaped my life and how I can now choose to use healthy coping mechanisms and kindness towards myself to move forward in my life. I knew when I left for The Bridge to Recovery I wanted to work for a place like it. I left ministry and went to work for a wedding venue in the Memphis area and got my wedding and event coordinating certification. This allowed me more time to focus on staying very closely connected to The Bridge to Recovery and my recovery plan. I had no idea 2 years after graduating I would be offered a position. A true full circle moment for me. I LOVE the Bridge to Recovery! It saved my life and I am honored to have a position on the team. To lead the creation, execution, and evaluation of fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations strategies to establish sustainable financial support for The Bridge to Recovery’s mission.
