If you have browsed through our other pages, hopefully it has become evidently clear that we are renowned for our trauma and codependency work. And, if you have followed our Trauma Tree Map, it has likely landed you here: to further understand really what we help with.
It is true: we help folks heal from the devastating effects of trauma and codependency. But, let’s dive into what those devastating effects can look like.
When we experience pain from unresolved trauma, we often find ourselves engaging in negative thinking, behaving, and feeling. Or, as we refer to our Trauma Tree Map, the “branches of our trauma tree.”
While our bodies are designed by nature to survive, in order to do so we often create negative patterns of behavior and thinking. So, whether it is because we experience a stressful situation or because we are seeking ways to find joy and pleasure, these negative patterns can create turmoil in our lives.
At The Bridge to Recovery we have found that by healing the root causes of our trauma (see Family of Origin and Understanding Trauma), we can learn to develop new, healthy ways of behaving and feeling.
But first, we have to understand what those unhealthy patterns can look like.
