Bridge to Recovery’s
Residential Mental Health Lexington Therapy Center

Learn more about mental health treatment near Lexington at The Bridge to Recovery.

From February 1st, 2023, to February 13th, 2023, 37.4% of adults in Kentucky experienced symptoms of depression or an anxiety disorder. This is compared to 32.3% of the general US adult population. We also know that overdose death rates increased both in Kentucky and the United States over the past decade. Unfortunately, many people don’t get help at all, and if they do, they may not get the support they need past initial symptom reduction.

Treatment that focuses on deep emotional healing work rather than initial symptom management only can help you restore a love for life beyond what traditional mental health services provide. That’s what we do at The Bridge to Recovery. If you’re looking for residential mental health treatment in or near Lexington, what should you know about our services?

Our Kentucky Mental Health Treatment Program is unlike any other. This page will discuss who we work with, what to expect at our residential therapy center near Lexington, the three phases of our program, and other features. If you have any questions about The Bridge to Recovery and whether or not our program is right for you, please call our admissions line.

Who is The Bridge to Recovery for?

Founded in 1972, our program focuses on whole-person emotional recovery. We address a wide range of concerns, including but not limited to: Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), panic disorder and other anxiety disorders, substance abuse, behavioral addictions (e.g., shopping, gambling), mood disorders like depression, body image and eating disorders, and complicated grief.

The Bridge to Recovery also works with emotional exhaustion, phase of life issues, codependency, chronic relapse, anger and rage, workaholism, and other concerns that affect your quality of life.

Since we are designed to support long-term healing rather than helping clients achieve initial abstinence from behaviors, clients attending our program for substance use or eating disorders must have been free of symptomatic behaviors for two weeks before starting treatment at The Bridge to Recovery.

Just an hour and 20 minutes North from Nashville, Tennessee sits our healing refuge. Hidden away on 120 acres of rolling Kentucky hills.

Residential Mental Health Lexington Therapy Center

While clients from anywhere in the US are welcome to engage in our program, we work with clients from Lexington and surrounding areas frequently. Our program functions in a workshop-like setting, and it is not like typical group therapy. Our program does not take the traditional medical model approach to treatment. Instead, we have a clinical team of mental health professionals with various specialties.

Clients at The Bridge to Recovery attend groups seven days per week while in our program, with a small amount of allotted downtime to recharge.

Therapies, activities, and treatments at The Bridge to Recovery include but aren’t limited to the following:

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Expressive Arts Therapy
  • Family Therapy and Workshops
  • Music Therapy
  • Narrative Therapy
  • Empty Chair Work
  • Equine Therapy
  • Body Movement
  • Meditation
  • Journaling

  • Yoga

Our program is designed to last a minimum of two weeks, but you are welcome to stay longer. The day you leave is ultimately up to you, but many clients work with our staff to help them plan on a release date as they make progress.

Three Phases of Treatment

Our program moves through the following three stages of treatment. If you stay for all three phases of our program, you will be with the same group of people throughout your stay at The Bridge to Recovery. We have small group sizes and admit a maximum of ten clients per admissions cycle.

In the first phase of treatment, you will explore your trauma and learn more about how it’s affected you. Many life experiences can be traumatic, including experiences with anxiety, eating disorders, addiction, depression, and burnout, which is why the structure of our Residential Trauma Treatment Programs works, no matter what you’re here to address.

In phase two, you’ll dig deeper and identify ways trauma and other mental health concerns show up in your life from a non-judgmental perspective. You’ll start to explore what you want in life now and work toward creating a strong and sustainable set of healthy coping skills. All unhealthy coping mechanisms have a purpose and can be replaced with more adaptive behaviors that support your well-being.

In many cases, trauma, other mental health concerns, or challenging life circumstances interfere with self-trust and the overall relationship we have with ourselves. Phase three of treatment at The Bridge to Recovery focuses on continued self-discovery, autonomy, and peer support. Building a positive and trusting relationship with yourself is crucial and can support all parts of your life, from confidence and quality of life to relationships and occupation.

Alumni Support and Aftercare

Before you leave treatment, our clinical team will help you make an aftercare plan. This may include referrals to external services like therapists in the Lexington area, job and education-related plans, or something else unique to your journey.

The Bride to Recovery offers extensive alumni support, from check-in calls to regional events and alumni homecoming. We consider anyone who has attended our program or workshops for any length of time an alumni.
